GET IN TOUCH
The below message has been provided by STPGA Executive Director, Thomas Hutton, PGA.
We are currently in a period that is unprecedented and would like to take this opportunity to communicate with our PGA Members and partners the following updates as the health and safety of all Members of the STPGA community continues to be our top priority. I appreciate the leadership and guidance that your officers have provided during this time.
Our goal with these updates is to be good community leaders while maintaining a sense of calm during this period of uncertainty. While one cannot predict the future, I do see golf as an outlet during these times. I visited 3 different facilities this week and all were very busy.
Below is an overview of updates around events and other information
Spring Classic March 16-17 has been postponed. Click here for the full statement. A reschedule date will be announced soon.
STPGA Junior Golf events have been postponed between today, March 13 and Friday, March 20. With this decision, the STPGA will commence a process of providing updates to our Junior Golf Membership on a weekly basis. Every week on Thursday starting on Thursday, March 19, the STPGA will provide updates for events that coming weekend. Click here for the full statement.
Due to the PGA TOUR announcement, all Valero Texas Open Qualifiers have been canceled. All players will receive a refund.
Our Junior Golf Summit scheduled for March 23 at San Antonio CC has been canceled due to our keynote speakers traveling from outside our section. All attendees will receive a refund.
Our schedule for the Pro-Pro Match Play has had a slight modification. Round 1 matches must now be complete before Monday, April 13 over the previously announced date of Monday, March 30. The remaining schedule will remain the same for match completion.
The STPGA Board of Directors is committed to keeping the business of the association moving and will continue with its previously planned March 24 meeting but will do this remotely rather than in person.
From the PGA of America, a change has been made to the MSR cycle. Our current period was set to end on June 15, 2021. The Board of Directors voted and approved to move this back a year until June 15, 2022. While I don’t see this being a big concern for STPGA Members with our Annual Meeting already complete, this was due to a lot of canceled Spring Membership Meetings taking place in northern sections.
Lastly, the STPGA Staff will be working remotely the week of March 16. While some may come to the office at times, all employees will be working during normal business hours. All employees can be reached via email.
Thank you to our officers for their leadership and thank you to my staff for their hard work during these unique times.
