MONT BELVIEU, TEXAS—Chris Hunsucker of San Antonio, Texas made major strides during the opening round of the Lone Star NGL Texas Senior Open with a score of 64, 7-under par. Hunsucker started his round with a birdie on hole one and continued on to fire 6 more birdies and 1 eagle in his opening round.
The 23rd Lone Star NGL Texas Senior Open contested at Eagle Pointe Golf Club is presented by S & B Engineers and Constructors and Vortech Contracting.
Following closely behind Hunsucker is Robert Thompson, PGA Teaching Professional at Whispering Pines Golf Club with a Round 1 score of 66 (-5).
This year marks the sixth consecutive year that Eagle Pointe Golf Club, a 6,740-yard, par 71 course has hosted this prestigious championship. The 54-hole stroke play event consists of 118 players from across Texas and the country, making it the largest field in the tournament’s 23-year history.
The Senior Division at the Senior Open consists of players ages 50-64 and the Veterans Division consists of players ages 64 and over. PGA Life Member, David Lundstrom of Houston, Texas currently holds the top spot in the Veterans Division after firing an opening round of 70 (-1).
