Mont Belvieu, TX – Eagle Pointe Golf Club will play host to the 25th Energy Transfer Texas Senior Open for the eighth consecutive year starting tomorrow running through Friday of this week. The Tournament is presented by S&B, Vortech Contracting, and the City of Mont Belvieu.
The 54-hole stroke play event will consist of 120 players from not only Texas but from 20 different states, and two different countries. This will be the largest field in the tournament’s 25-year history. The tournament also saw the addition of the City of Mont Belvieu coming on as the third presenting sponsor of the event.
“We are thrilled to have the City join the event,” said Brad Widener from Energy Transfer. “The City continues to support local events and showcase the town and we are excited to elevate this Championship again.”
The Senior Division, consisting of 99 players ages 50-64, will play 36-holes before being cut to the low 30 scores and ties, while a Champion will be named in the Super Senior Division (players 64+) after two rounds of play.
In last year’s event, Jim Carter of Scottsdale, Arizona won the tournament after a bogey-free final round of -8 to jump from third to three strokes ahead of the field.
Marshall Gavre of Green Valley, Arizona claimed the 2020 Super Senior title by two strokes with rounds of 68-71 for a final 36-hole score of 139 (-3).
To kick of the week, Eagle Pointe Golf Club played host to the Energy Transfer Texas Senior Open Pro-Am today with 125 participants. This Pro-Am raised $25,000 for local scholarship through PGA REACH Southern Texas and the Energy Transfer Scholarship Fund. PGA REACH is a 501(c)3 organization with the mission of impacting lives through golf. Founded in 1994, the foundation has numerous programs through its junior golf initiatives, scholarships, military programs, and employment opportunities.
The 25 teams of 4 Amateurs and one Professional played a fun shamble format where each hole the team counted one gross and one net score. The winning team shot 117 and featured players from TPC Industrial. The team was Houston Glover, Jamie Carroll, Archie Lopez, Colton Pitkin, and Chad Donegan, PGA.

Round One of the Energy Transfer Texas Senior Open begins tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. on Eagle Pointe’s 6,740-yard, par 71 course.
