THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (August 16, 2022) – Jesse Droemer, PGA Assistant Professional at Lakeside Country Club came out on top after the two impressive rounds at the 2022 Memorial Championship, earning his second career Major win with the Section.
“I haven’t won a Section event since the Section Championship in 2017 with some injuries and tough obstacles so it means a lot to be able to win again,” said Droemer. “It’s a competitive Section, with a lot of great players, so it isn’t as easy to win out here.”
Droemer started off strong during Round One with five birdies on the front nine and an eagle on Hole 16 to lead the field by two strokes heading into Round Two. He finished with 12 birdies over the two days and a final score of 136 (-8).
In the Senior Division, Billy Sitton, PGA Golf Executive at Triumph Golf, took a commanding lead after a bogey-free Round One, leading the field by five strokes. Sitton finished his two days in The Woodlands with nine birdies and a final score of 141 (-3).
“It was wonderful to win this year’s Memorial Championship,” said Sitton. “The course was great and I’m really excited to qualify for the Levy Cup Matches.”
