STPGA Members and Associates,
I am excited to say that the STPGA is getting #backtoSTPGAgolf next week at the TPx Communications Championship and we hope to see you there. In preparation of this event, I want to inform the membership on a few very important topics.
Point #1 – I would like to applaud the entire membership for their continued hard work during these unique times. You, our PGA Member, continues to go above and beyond to be a positive influence within your community. Please continue to practice social distancing at your facility and follow local guidelines.
Point #2 – After a deep review by the staff, Championship Committee, and Board of Directors, click here for our new set of Policies and Procedures for our event at Kingwood Country Club – Forest Course on Monday and Tuesday. Our goal was to ensure that we can operate these events in the safest manner possible and still run a Championship that our Members are proud of. While it is our intention to use these same procedures for our Senior and Assistant’s Championship the following week, we will review and make any modifications needed after the completion of the event at Kingwood. Please take the time to read through these procedures and note that as more local guidelines are announced, these procedures will be amended throughout the summer.

Point #3 – As you can imagine, many of our partners have fallen on tough times due to COVID-19, and as such, many will not be able to continue their partnership with the Section. While our Executive Director, Thomas Hutton, is working diligently to maintain them or be creative, the reality is that many will not be able to be involved in 2020. With support from the officers and Board of Directors, we don’t want short term gains to jeopardize long term relationships with these companies. The main area that our Professionals will see this impact is with tournament purses. I can assure you that our Section staff is working tirelessly so that you see as little of this impact as possible but we need to be transparent. I am confident that we will distribute sponsorship funds in the fairest manner possible and use previous year allocations as a roadmap. I encourage all of you to support the sponsors that will support us this year and welcome them into your shops in 2020.

Thank you for all that you do to impact lives through golf in Southern Texas. I look forward to seeing each of you out on the course or in another capacity in the near future!
