THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (March 16, 2021) – In the first ever Pro-Pro Championship, it took a team effort by Jared Jones, PGA and Jimmy Anderson, PGA, both providing birdies to take home the Championship. The River Oaks Country Club team claimed the title after shooting rounds of 61-64 for a 36-hole team score of 125 (-19). With this victory, Jones and Anderson will take home a check for $4,000.
“It feels amazing. I three-putted 16 for bogey, and realized I got us tied. So, I was kind of kicking myself. I said ok, we’ve got to birdie 17 or 18. It came down to 18. It was the biggest putt I had made in a while,” said Anderson.
Coming into the final round, Jones and Anderson led the field by three strokes at 61 (-11). After sinking a birdie putt on hole 18, the team took the title by just one stroke.
“I have a good partner. He instills confidence in me. And same for me with him. It was just fun, playing well, winning well, and holding the trophy.”
Ryan Polzin, PGA of Oak Hills Country Club and Gregory Hiller, PGA of TPC San Antonio, shot up the leaderboard from 65 (-7) after round one, to a tournament total of 126 (-18), securing a solo second place.
The Pro-Pro Championship was the first Southern Texas PGA Section event hosted at The Club at Carlton Woods (Fazio). The Fazio Course has been recognized as the “Best New Private Course in Texas” and the “#3 Best New Private Course in the U.S.” It continues to be ranked in the top ten golf courses in the state of Texas and the top 175 in the country.
