The Levy Cup Matches is an annual event in the Northern and Southern Texas Sections and are contested much like the Joe Black Cup Matches. The Levy Cup teams consist of four Assistant PGA Members (A-8 only), four STPGA Members of any Classification not already represented in these matches or the Texas Joe Black Cup Matches, and four Senior PGA Members (any classification) from each Section competing against each other.
Established in 2017, the Levy Cup Matches were created to honor Paul Levy who is a Past President of the PGA of America where he served his term from 2017-2018. The inaugural Matches were hosted October 15-17, 2017 at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas. The Northern and Southern Texas PGA Section’s alternate hosting the event each year.
The Northern Texas PGA hosted the seventh annual Levy Cup Matches in November 2023 at White Bluff Resort (New Course) in Whitney, Texas. Team NTPGA took the matches for the third year in a row after winning 12.5 to 11.5 against Team STPGA.
At the conclusion of the Southern Texas PGA Section Championship (Assistants and Other Class A Members as defined below) and Memorial Championship (Seniors) the STPGA Team of 12 players will be determined as follows:
**Note** Any changes in classification or employment within 30 days of the official Practice Round of the Matches will not impact the composition of the team.
Current Director of Instruction at Axis Golf Academy in Cypress, TX, Hodde has been a PGA of America Member since 2010. Hodde has made an everlasting impact on the Southern Texas PGA through his efforts and was our 2023 Professional Development Award recipient. This will be Hodde's first Levy Cup experience and is driven to bring a successful run with Team STPGA.
