THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (June 28, 2021) – In this year’s 9/9/9 Pro-Pro, it came down to Gilbert Mendez, PGA Teaching Professional at GOLFTEC - North Austin and Arnie Martinez, Golf Coach at Our Lady of the Lake University with the 27-hole team score of 95 (-13).
“The mindset we had coming into this event was just to have fun,” said Mendez. “We enjoyed the event even with the weather and it certainly helped having Arnie’s putter coming in hot when we needed it most.”
Mendez and Martinez had combined 13 birdies and led the field by three strokes. With this victory, Mendez and Martinez will take home a check for $2,000.
“We know each other really well so I think that’s what helped keep us grounded when we did not hit the best of shots,” said Martinez. “We had each other's back through each of the nines.”
