This junior golfer award is presented to a young man who possesses strong academic and social character with high regard for the ideals upon which golf is founded. This junior golfer must possess excellent sportsmanship. Playing ability is a factor, but more important is the character of the young golfer.
William, 17, began playing golf in the Southern Texas PGA’s Little Linksters program when he was seven years old and credits the STPGA Junior Golf program for fostering his love for competing.
“The STPGA Junior Golf tournaments are so professionally run and there are so many opportunities to play golf,” Moll states. “My participation in STPGA events taught me how to handle myself on and off the golf course as well as golf etiquette, rules, and how to keep my composure. As I have moved through the ranks, I have always felt prepared and that is thank to the Southern Texas PGA.”
The Vanderbilt University commit has an extensive record of competitive achievements outside the high school ranks, most recently qualifying for and participating in the 2018 Junior Ryder Cup Golf at Disneyland in Paris, France.
William’s accolades include:
Texas Amateur (5th)
AJGA Polo Golf Junior Invitational (5th)
AJGA Junior Players Championship (5th)
Member of the 2018 West Wyndham Cup Team
UIL State Championship (6th)
UIL All-State, All-Region, and All-District (2017, 2018)
Sadie, 16, began playing golf at the age of five and has found great success in recent years. In 2018, she was a member of the West Wyndham Cup team and the US team in the Toyota Junior World Cup in Japan as well as received All-District, All-Region, and All-State first team honors as a sophomore.
Sadie wants her story to inspire other juniors, especially girls, to realize that hard work and a love for golf can pay off. According to her “Through golf, I have learned sportsmanship, failure, and success. Those three things have helped me grow my game and myself as a person. Being a role model for younger golfers, especially girls, is a goal of mine because there are many opportunities to grow women’s golf. Me inspiring them can hopefully be a huge part in that.”
William and Sadie, along with the other award winners, will be honored on Monday, February 18 at the 51st President's Dinner and Awards Ceremony, hosted by Horseshoe Bay Resort.
