SPRING, TEXAS --- Casey Russell, PGA Head Professional at Golfcrest Country Club, will represent the Southern Texas PGA at the 101st PGA Championship this week at Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, NY.
Russell, along with 19 other PGA Professionals, qualified for the Championship by placing in the top-20 at the 52nd PGA Professional Championship on May 1 at Belfair in Bluffton, South Carolina. He finished tied for eighth with a four-day total of 287.
This will mark his first appearance at the event and second on the PGA TOUR. His first appearance on the PGA TOUR was at the 2017 Valero Texas Open where he missed the cut by two strokes. Russell qualified for that event after winning the 2016 Southern Texas PGA Section Professional Championship.
Other PGA Members representing south Texas are Bronson Burgoon, Beau Hossler, and Patrick Reed as well as past champions Rich Beem (2002) and Jimmy Walker (2016).
