GET IN TOUCH
Dear PGA Professional,
Severe winter weather, which has impacted the Northern Texas, Southern Texas and Gulf States PGA Sections especially hard, has left many people without the basic necessities of shelter, water and power, including several PGA Members.
In times of unexpected need from catastrophes, such as this past week’s storm, which has led to widespread power outages, loss of water and water damage from burst pipes, the PGA Disaster Relief Fund is available to help. The fund provides assistance to PGA Members who are faced with temporary financial problems due to serious medical emergencies or the impact of natural disasters. It provides relief for documented out-of-pocket expenses in critical circumstances, to help our Members and their families get back on their feet faster. Over the last 20 years, the PGA Disaster Relief Fund has distributed a total of $1.8 million in relief.
The fund is the Association’s long-standing way for PGA Members to provide assistance to other PGA Members who have been affected by a natural disaster. Because of legal restrictions, the PGA of America is prohibited from contributing to the PGA Disaster Relief Fund. Therefore, it is funded entirely by the generosity of non-tax deductible PGA Member contributions.
Our hearts go out to anyone who has been affected by this severe winter storm.
All the Best,
Jim Richerson, PGA
