2023 Pro-Junior Championship Claimed by Golfcrest Country Club for Back-to-Back Victories

Houston, TX (June 26, 2023) - It was an afternoon shotgun start for the sixth annual STPGA Pro-Junior Championship that took place this year at Pine Forest Country Club with 20 teams competing in a stepback scramble format featuring one PGA Professional and three junior golfers. This fun event is all about PGA Professionals growing the game and creating lasting memories with junior golfers.
The title this year would not be easily taken. After the round was over and all scores were submitted there would be a tie for first at 56 (-16). Between the home team of Dawson Kipniss, PGA Assistant Golf Professional and his junior squad of Conrad Holzman, Jake Williams, and Cole Reid tied against the returning runner-up of last year in Eric Bogar, PGA Assistant Golf Professional at Golfcrest Country Club and his team of Nathan Richards, Micheal Perusse, and Damian Garcia. Team Bogar would claim the title after the tie was decided by a one stroke difference on the back nine.
“It was an all around team effort, they were hitting some good drives, mixing our wedges in there and everyone was making some putts. We were never out of position” said Bogar.
With 12 birdies and eagling two of the three par 5’s this team shot an incredible bogey-free round and that birdie on Hole 10 would be the decider and put them in first place officially after the scorecard playoff.
Michael Perusse added, “I thought 18-under was reachable. I mean we had two eagles but we just had too many pars. I felt good about a 56 but I didn’t know if it was gonna be good enough.”
With the victory this makes Golfcrest Country Club victorious at the Pro-Junior Championship for its second straight year following Rene Rangel, PGA General Manager at Golfcrest Country Club victory from last year.
